Description

Description:
The Kerner from Rielinger estate has a straw yellow color with greenish reflections; aroma of grapefruit, apricots, pineapple, mandarin and honey on the nose. It is very lively, juicy and racy in the mouth, convincing with its mineral and very long finish.

Grape variety:
Kerner - South Tyrol Weinberg Dolomiten IGT. The Kernergrape was crossed in 1948 in Weinsberg (Germany) from Vernatsch (Schiava) and Riesling and was named after the poet Justinus Kerner.

Production area:
The Rielinger has planted approx. 1.0ha with Kerner at 680 - 750m above sea level. On the steep southern slope at the foot of Renon with deep morainic soils, which consist of sandy loam and the topsoil of the Bolzano porphyry plate, grow fruity mineral wines. This characteristic is typical for the lower Eisack valley, to which the cultivation area also belongs.

Vinification:
With this white wine the Rielingerhof wants to reflect its terroir, which is particularly suitable for the Kerner. Due to the natural, very low yield the maximum quality is obtained. The hand-picked grapes are harvested in two harvest cycles to achieve a more complex aroma spectrum. 30% of the grapes are fermented on the skins and have been in contact with the mash for 30 days. Subsequently approx. 50% is matured in large acacia barrel and 50% in steel barrels.

Matching:
It is certainly an excellent aperitif wine, but goes just as well with a juicy steak.

Serving temperature:
8 - 10°C.

Ageing potential:
3 - 5 years.

Bottle to:
750 ml - 75 cl - 0.75 lt.

Allergens:
Wine can contain sulphites.

Producer:
Winery Rielinger BIO
Wine has always been grown at the Rielinger estate. The Rielingerhof already produced wine in the Middle Ages for the nobility of the nearby castle "Castel Stein", today a ruin. An ancient grape press found on the grounds of the winery and now to be seen in the tasting room, provides evidence for the historical significance of wine making. The family Messner has been cultivating wine for three generations now. While part of the harvest was brought to a cooperative winery in the past, since 2011 the entire wine production is run and marketed directly at the farm. Thus, they can offer their guests a product grown, refined and aged on the farm. The challenge is of course to achieve a very high quality in the vineyard as well as in the cellar. Now they are member of the South Tyrolean Independent Winegrowers since 2011. Furthermor, the family had been thinking about organic production for a long time. After some updatings and advanced trainings on the subject of organic viticulture and discussions with like-minded farmers, they decided in 2015 to join the Bioland association.

The fine and intense bouquet recalls ripe aromatic apples and white flowers and gives off a slight note of flint. On the palate the wine is fresh and tasty with an appetizing and mineral acidity. Striking for the long and fruity taste persistence. To fully develop its potential it is advisable to open it a few hours before.Bottle to: 750 ml - 75 cl - 0,75...
