Description:
Deep, almost impenetrable ruby red. It shows slight purple hues on the rim of the glass. Intense nose, purely fruity and floral, characterised by intense aromas of currants, strawberries, berries and blueberries. Potpourri and bouquet of roses. Spices, sichuan pepper and clove with some hints of undergrowth. Damp earth, goudron. Satisfying and warming drink. Dense tannic texture but well integrated thanks to the ageing in wood. Balanced, it is a true Tuscan red, with an exquisitely mineral and persistent finish.
Grape variety:
Sangiovese 85%, Canaiolo (5%), Mammolo (5%), Merlot (5%) - Toscana Chianti DOCG.

"Poggio Piglia" Vineyards - Chiusi / 9ha . "Greppo" - Abbadia di Montepulciano / 8ha. "Casa Lucii" - San Gimignano / 13ha.
Vinification:
Alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks. 30% of the wine is matured in large barrels for 4 months.
Food pairing:
Meat dishes, but also boards of mature cheeses.
Serving temperature:
16 - 18°C.

more than 5 years.

Salcheto is a winery in the Montepulciano area, in the Sienese hills, which has made the territoriality, eco-sustainability and quality of the wines produced its strengths. It takes its name from a small stream that traces the boundary of the properties and which, in turn, takes its name from the willow trees, "salco" in ancient Tuscan. Under the guidance of Michele Manelli, who personally supervises the work in the vineyard and in the cellar, Salcheto has established itself as one of the leading wineries for certified organic and biodynamic farming. The vineyards extend for 30 hectares on the clayey and tuffaceous soils of the Sienese hills, at an altitude of over 400 meters, in the territories of Montepulciano, Chiusi and the Val d’Orcia.
