Perlhofer Crescendus 2024 - 12,5% vol. Ritterhof Winery

Description: 
Selected grapes and the excellent combination of Schiava Gentile, Lagrein and Merlot combined in careful cask ageing give it a ruby red colour, spicy and fruity notes and an elegant, velvety structure on the palate. 

Grape varierty: 
60 % Schiava, 40 % divided between Lagrein and Merlot. 

Production area: 
The three varietals in the Perlhofer grow in three carefully selected vineyards. The grapes favour different soil conditions, making the areas in St. Magdalena, the Upper Etsch and the Lowlands particularly favourable. The Merlot vines prefer warm porphyry soils, those of the Lagrein sandy gravel soils and the Vernatsch vines favour the nutrient-rich loamy soils on slopes. The vines, some of which are more than 50 years old, are trained over trellises and traditional pergola systems and grow at an altitude of 220 - 450 metres. 

Vinification: 
Once the selected grapes have been delivered to the winery, they undergo separate, traditional maceration at a controlled temperature of 28°C for 10 days. After asamblage (blending) the wine is aged in large wooden barrels. 

Food pairing: 
The Perlhofer CRESCENDUS is an excellent accompaniment to grilled fish, light meat dishes and cheese. 

Serving temperature: 
16 - 18°C. 

Ageing potential: 
more than 5 years.

750 ml - 75 cl - 0,75 lt.

And uniqueness is provided by the vineyards of the Ritterhof, which are distributed from Salorno all the way up to Renon. The product line is extremely broad, ranging from Red Muscat to Merlot and Lagrein all the way to Pinot Noir and Gewürztraminer. And, it goes without saying, Schiava. That is a bow to the winegrowing tradition by the Ritterhof Estate Winery. And innovation is provided by the fungus-resistant varieties with which the Kaneppeles are experimenting in their trial vineyards. And the three colors also correspond to the three lines of the estate winery. Brown is the color of the Terra line, and thus of down-to-earth Alto Adige wines, while green decorates the Collis line for which only completely mature grapes from the best terraced slopes are used. Blue, on the other hand, stands for the top line Rarus, consisting of wines that are carefully aged in small oak casks.
