Description

Description:
Ruby to garnet red with light brick red reflections. On the nose it is very reminiscent of strawberries, raspberries, plums and cherries. It unfolds its full power in the mouth, it is full-bodied and velvety. Compared to the Pinot Nero Riserva, the Vigna Zis is even more concentrated, full-bodied and spicier.

Grape variety:
Pinot Noir - South Tyrol DOC

Production area:
The vines for the Vigna Zis with a strictly reduced yield are rooted in Mazzon at 400 m above sea level and are the oldest on the Brunnenhof. The sandy clay soil, the afternoon sun and the wind from Lake Garda ensure ideal conditions in the vineyard. The Pinot Noir, which characterizes this location, has been cultivated in Mazzon for 100 years now.

Vinification:
The selected grapes, which are harvested as late as possible and very ripe, are fermented in large wooden barrels. Then the biological acid degradation takes place, the wine is stored for at least a year in the tonneau, whereby it is divided into two expansion variants. On the one hand as a first assignment of new wood, on the other hand as a second assignment.

Food pairing:
Ideal with grilled dishes, roast pork or veal, game, smoked or grilled fish, and spicy cheese.

Serving temperature:
16 - 18°C.

Ageing potential:
more than 15 years.

Bottle size:
750 ml - 75 cl - 0,75 lt.

Allergens:
wine can contain sulphites.

Producer:
Brunnenhof Winery
Five hectares, respect for nature, and no hocus pocus. The philosophy of an estate winery cannot be described more briefly – or more accurately – than Kurt Rottensteiner does for his Brunnenhof in Egna. A philosophy that is also supported by the fact that the Brunnenhof is situated in Mazzon, one of Alto Adige’s best Pinot Noir areas. Nature has therefore meant well for the vineyards of the Brunnenhof in Egna-Mazzon, for which the Rottensteiner family is grateful: since 2011, they have been running their estate winery according to ecological guidelines, and it is organic certified. That holds true without making sacrifices for all of the locations and varieties at the Brunnenhof. Manzoni Bianco grapes have been thriving on the scree cone of the Rio Trodena and, since 1921, Lagrein vines! Added to these are Gewürztraminer, and Yellow Muscat, but above all else Pinot Noir. “The sandy loam soils, the wind exposure, the midday sun, the Ora wind from Lake Garda, and the cool nights.
