Description:
This very old grape variety from France has been grown in South Tyrol since the end of the 19th century and is enjoying an ever-increasing popularity. The white wine has a crisp acidity paired with a fruity, tangy taste. It has gooseberry and elderflower scents, is straw-yellow in colour and has a delicate green tone. The spare, stony gravel-marl soil also gives the wine its minerally, salty note.

Production area:
Renon - Atzwang/Campodazzo, South Tyrol. Steep south-facing slopes at approx. 500 m a.s.l., which enjoy the influence of the warm winds from the Bolzano valley basin. Climate: Alpine-Mediterranean, sheltered from north winds.
Vinification:
Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel barrels, then storage and maturation on the fine yeasts, some in oak casks.
Food recommendations:
Ideal with vegetarian starters, dumplings, fish, white meats and fresh goat's cheese.
Serving temperature:
10 - 12°C.
Ageing potential:
more than 5 years.

The Ebner winery is located on the sunny Renon plateau, on a rocky outcrop above Atzwang/Campodazzo in the southernmost reaches of the Eisack Valley, with a wonderful view towards the Schlern/Sciliar massif and Völs/Fiè. A careful eye and caring hands ensure that the quality wines flourish in the southernmost reaches of the Eisack Valley. Red wine grapes grow on the sunny, terraced, south-facing slopes of volcanic origin; white varieties thrive in the airy southeast-facing locations. The Ebner quality wines from the Eisack Valley are largely trained on a 40-year-old pergola system, whose root system ensures that the grapes are ideally supplied with nutrients even in dry periods and their vitality is maintained through gentle pruning. Sustainability, quality and authenticity are not only aspects that Brigitte and Florian Unterthiner merely feel: they live by these principles and happily pass them on to their guests.
