Description:
Yellow with greenish hues in colour. On the nose this white wine unfolds delicate floral aromas and fine fruity notes. It inspires on the palate with its freshness and proves to be lively and fruity with a lot of minerality: beautifully salty and with surprising complexity. It is a particularly long-lasting white wine, that still provides first-class drinking pleasure even after a few years in the cellar.

Grape variety:
Sylvaner - South Tyrol Alto Adige Valle Isarco DOC.

Production area:
Valle Isarco - South of Bressanone. South-east and partially south-west faced vineyards at an altitude from 550 to 750 metres with shallow layers of soil characterized by slate and quartz phyllite among the main rock types with a small content of loam. Warm microclimate with large temperature fluctuations between day and night during the ripening period.

Vinification:
Gentle pressing and processing of the grapes. The fermentation and ageing on fine lees take place in stainless steel tanks and large acacia wood barrels. No Malolactic fermentation. Bottle aging for around two months.

Food Pairing:
This wine from the Kuenhof is a very versatile food companion. It goes well with South Tyrolean snacks, soups and asparagus, but also with light starters and fish dishes.

Serving temperature:
10 - 12°C.

Ageing potential:
3 - 5 years.

Kuenhof was mentioned for the first time in the 12th century. It was then owned by the Bishop of Bressanone. The Wine Estate is located south of Bressanone, embedded in the vineyards and near the Brenner corridor. More than 200 years ago our ancestor, Peter Pliger, purchased the old farmhouse, which has been our family’s property ever since. In 1991 the scrupulous restoring of the listed old farmhouse and the cellar began. Step by step we also renewed the numerous fallow wine terraces.
With an unimaginable effort we rebuilt the decayed dry stonewalls. The winery grew from initially 2.5 hectare to 6.5 hectare.
