Description:
The Kerner is an aromatic white wine that has been grown at the HAIDENHOF for over 40 years. It is greenish - light yellow in color, with notes of peach and apricot on the nose. On the palate it is very racy and juicy with a mineral finish.

Kerner - South Tyrol DOC

Production area:
The grapes grow at 450 meters above sea level, on steep slopes facing south-east. The natural and layered clay soil and the Mediterranean climate give this wine its unmistakable notes.

Vinification:
The winemaking begins with the careful care of the vine. Important is the right choice of harvest time. Subsequently, the wines are fermented in stainless steel containers at a controlled temperature. Depending on the variety, the wines mature in large oak barrels or are matured in French oak barrels. This unfolds an unmistakable fine taste, which remains long and clean on the palate. The Haidenhof wines are in style rather fruity and full-bodied.

Food pairing:
Its lively minerality makes this wine an ideal aperitif. Due to its complexity, this wine is suitable for salad dishes, summer pasta dishes, grilled fish and; especially in old age, excellent with crustaceans and shellfish.

Serving temperature:
10 - 12°C.

Ageing potential:
more than 5 years.

The Haidenhof vineyards are the result of the care of several generations of owners and cover an area of 3,5 hectares at an altitude of 450 m, with south-east exposure.
The ancient and venerable stone cellar in Haidenhof is over 300 years old and here, once upon a time, wine was sold in bulk. Since 2006, the Erb family has been selling about 15,000 bottles of wine a year. The quality of the wines has increased over the years thanks to the improved quality guidelines. In addition, the variety has also been expanded: today the family business produces eight different labels, each of them requires special storage and processing. Each wine reflects the characteristics of the grape variety, the growing medium, the weather conditions and the winemaking process.
