Podalirius is the name for the Cabernet Franc Riserva that grows on the most prized field, which is the "Vigna Peters Kreid" located directly on Lake Kaltern. It is the melody of wine and love - it is the warmth of summer and the strength that comes from the depths of the earth: It is "Iphyclides podalirius", the butterfly that fills its stage with elegance and personality, charisma and attention. A truly noble wine. 

Those who love this wine slip into the role of the butterfly and can draw the circles of their life with sweetness yet full of splendour. Transformation and perspective are the themes of this sophisticated wine. A character to befriend - a wine to meditate on - and a wine to 'sip slowly'.

Production area: 
The location not far from Lake Kaltern offers ideal conditions for a full-bodied and elegant red wine. The vineyard is located at about 215 m above sea level on a scree cone, mainly formed by limestone/dolomitic gravel from the Mendel mountains. The position is ideal for the cultivation of the Cabernet Franc variety. 

The vines are espalier-trained and are about 20 years old. This unique vineyard location is historically referred to as the 'Peters Kreid' vineyard and is also registered under the Wine Law as a 'Vineyard', i.e. as the tip of the pyramid for a wine. 

Vinification: 
Fermented in large wooden barrels and then matured in barriques for 18 months. Min. 6 months bottle ageing. 

Food pairing: 
Extremely elegant red wine which, with its subtle paprika notes, is an excellent companion for all meat dishes. 

Serving temperature: 
16 - 18°C. 

Ageing potential: 
more than 10 years.
