Description

Description: 
This wine is characterised by its light straw yellow colour with greenish reflections. On the nose, it develops a complex interplay of fresh aromas of white peaches, pears and flowers with slight aromas of toast. On the palate it excels with its elegant fullness and depth, based on delicate vanilla notes, a wine with well-integrated hints of wood, delicate freshness and a pleasant, smooth aftertaste.

Pinot Grigio - South Tyrol DOC 

Production area: 
The vines of the Pinot Grigio grow on the southern slopes below the wine village of Kaltern on the South Tyrolean Wine Route. The grapes mature at an altitude of 320 metres, on well-drained soil and mineral-rich glacial moraines. 

Vinification: 
After a short maceration period, the selected Pinot Grigio grapes are gently pressed, clarified and aged in French oak barrels on the lees. 

Food pairing: 
The Pinot Grigio Opes goes extremely well with rich starters and fish dishes in all variations. 

Serving temperature: 
12 - 14°C. 

Ageing potential: 
more than 5 years.

And uniqueness is provided by the vineyards of the Ritterhof, which are distributed from Salorno all the way up to Renon. The product line is extremely broad, ranging from Red Muscat to Merlot and Lagrein all the way to Pinot Noir and Gewürztraminer. And, it goes without saying, Schiava. That is a bow to the winegrowing tradition by the Ritterhof Estate Winery. And innovation is provided by the fungus-resistant varieties with which the Kaneppeles are experimenting in their trial vineyards. And the three colors also correspond to the three lines of the estate winery. Brown is the color of the Terra line, and thus of down-to-earth Alto Adige wines, while green decorates the Collis line for which only completely mature grapes from the best terraced slopes are used. Blue, on the other hand, stands for the top line Rarus, consisting of wines that are carefully aged in small oak casks.
