Grape variety: Gewuerztraminer - South Tyrol DOC
Production area: A selection of vineyards with southwest exposure on some of the steepest terraces in the region at altitudes from 300-500 meters. The soil is calciferous loam with gravel. Extreme interplay of sunny days influenced by the Mediterranean climate and cool nights marked by the cold downslope winds from the surrounding mountains. The name "Selida" comes from Old High German and means "small farmstead", a tribute to the longstanding culture of smallholdings that still constitute the strength of Cantina Tramin.
Vinification: The grapes were harvested by hand in small bins and gently pressed after a short period of maceration. Fermentation at controlled temperature (18° C) in small steel tanks, where maturation takes place without malolactic fermentation.
Food pairing: Pairs wonderfully with food, especially antipastos with fish and ripe smoked cheese, white meat dishes and swordfish or seafood. Exciting as an accompaniment to spicy dishes, Oriental cuisine and spicy, aromatic creations.
Serving temperature: 10 - 12°C.
Ageing potential: more than 5 years.
