Castelfeder's top wine, a Chardonnay Riserva, derives its name from the Cru in the heart of the village of Margreid, which is historically the best growing area for this variety in South Tyrol.
In a limited edition of only 1,400 bottles, this wine reflects the characteristics of the terroir in the South Tyrolean lowlands. The Way of the Cross is undoubtedly a unique wine in which you can taste the history & passion that characterises the work of those who work in the vineyard and cellar.

Production area:
Selected Cru site Kreuzweg in the heart of the village of Margreid at 220 - 240 m a.s.l. on limestone gravel soils.
Vinification:
Hand harvest, alcoholic fermentation in barrique barrels, 18 months ageing in barrique barrels, 12 months in steel tanks, 6 months ageing in bottles.
Food pairing:
Fish tartare refined with passion fruit, oil, pepper, or with smoked salmon.
Serving temperature:
12 - 14°C.
Ageing potential:
more than 10 years.

The Castelfeder Estate Winery was founded in Egna more than 50 years ago by Alfons Giovanett, but since that time, hardly anything has remained the same. “The product line has been expanded, production has increased, the processes in the winery have been modernized, and the market has become more international,” says Günther Giovanett, who took over the estate from his father Alfons and runs it with his children Ivan and Ines. Today, the Castelfeder Estate Winery encompasses 65 hectares, on which 70 percent is planted with white wine varieties.“The focus is on Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon Blanc,” Giovanett explains. With the red wines, the concentration is on Pinot Noir.
