Description

Description: 
A typical Lagrein, grown in Ora, which does not have to be child-friendly. It conveys an intense aroma, over which blackberries predominate. On the palate it gives the impression of remarkable freshness, underlined by an impressive depth.

Vinification: 
A true Raut only grows in the best vintages, with tight harvest volumes and our unrelenting devotion. Alcoholic fermentation takes place for approx. three to four weeks on the skins in stainless steel followed by maturation for 36 months in small oak barrels. One of our Raut only leaves the cellar after several months of bottle ageing.

The Waldthaler estate has a centuries-old history, given that the structure of the farm around which the rows of vines extend dates back as far as the 13th-14th centuries A.D. Situated in Ora, in the heart of the South Tyrolean area best suited for Lagrein and Pinot Noir, the estate is managed by the seventh generation of the family, headed by Clemens Waldthaler. Seventy per cent of the 7 hectares of the estate are used to produce red wines (Lagrein, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet and Schiava), and only the remaining 30 per cent are dedicated to white wines (Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Blanc), proving that the best yielding vines in these parts are the black ones. 
Since 1983, the highest quality wines from the Ora sites have been bottled under the registered trademark RAUT. These wines are made from selected grapes of the Merlot, Lagrein and Cabernet varieties and matured with the utmost care according to traditional methods. 
The excellence of the products is guaranteed by the special care devoted to the vines and the work in the cellar, in keeping with a philosophy of quality that the Waldthalers have handed down from father to son.
