Description: Golden in colour. An intense and concentrated aroma is released as soon as the wine is poured, reminiscent of exotic fruits such as mango, papaya with a hint of pineapple and lychee, all of which follows through on the palate; opulent, ambrosial with mouth-cleansing acidity to balance the luscious sweetness melting into a monumental finish.
Grape variety: Gewuerztraminer - South Tyrol DOC
Production area: This is a late-harvest Gewürztraminer made from grapes specially selected from various sites surrounding Tramin. The grape variety is named after the village of Tramin, where the growing conditions enable it to develop its typical aromatic character to the full. Soil: Clay, gravel and calcium carbonate.
Vinification: Takes place well into November. Picking is a very difficult process, given that over-ripe grapes are extremely delicate and picking requires expert hands to place them carefully in small wooden trays. The grapes are crushed gently and carefully; the juice is left to clear by natural sedimentation, after which fermentation takes in small oak casks. The wine subsequently aged in small casks for 12 months and then for six months in bottle before release.
Food pairing: As a dessert wine with dried fruit, shortbread and flavourful cakes, but also as an ideal companion to mature, spicy cheeses or blue cheeses.
Serving temperature: 12 - 14°C.
Ageing potential: min. 10 years.
Residual sugar: approx. 210 g/l.
Bottle to: 375 ml - 37,5 cl - 0,375 lt. little bottle
Allergens: wine can contain sulphites.
Producer: J.Hofstätter Winery In 1907, Josef Hofstätter founded a winery in Termeno which has developed today into the largest family estate winery in all of Alto Adige. Areas of cultivation of 50 hectares in the west and the east of the Bassa Atesina, in the south of Trentino and, as the first winegrower from Italy, even to the Saarland in Germany are tended under the direction of Martin Foradori and the J. Hofstätter brand. Soils, climate, elevation: all of these should be reflected by the wines of J. Hofstätter. They focus on local grapes: Pinot Blanc, Lagrein, Schiava, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Noir.
