Description:
South Tyrol's oldest red wine variety thrives on a very sheltered and warm southeast-facing location. The Vernatsch has an attractive and bright ruby-red color and fruity-floral aromas of raspberry, cherry and violet. In the finish, the wine of this autochthonous grape variety is fruity and lively, full-bodied and fresh.

Grape variety:
Vernatsch – South Tyrol DOC Alto Adige.

Production area:
Renon - Atzwang/Campodazzo, South Tyrol. Southeast-facing slopes, sheltered, at approx.450 m a.s.l. on 30-35% slope. Climate: Alpine-Mediterranean.

Vinification:
Fermentation in stainless steel barrels, then maturation partly in wooden casks.

Food recommendations:
Ideal accompaniment to light South Tyrolean dishes.

Serving temperature:
15 - 17°C.

Ageing potential:
more than 5 years.

The Ebner winery is located on the sunny Renon plateau, on a rocky outcrop above Atzwang/Campodazzo in the southernmost reaches of the Eisack Valley, with a wonderful view towards the Schlern/Sciliar massif and Völs/Fiè. A careful eye and caring hands ensure that the quality wines flourish in the southernmost reaches of the Eisack Valley. Red wine grapes grow on the sunny, terraced, south-facing slopes of volcanic origin; white varieties thrive in the airy southeast-facing locations. The Ebner quality wines from the Eisack Valley are largely trained on a 40-year-old pergola system, whose root system ensures that the grapes are ideally supplied with nutrients even in dry periods and their vitality is maintained through gentle pruning. Sustainability, quality and authenticity are not only aspects that Brigitte and Florian Unterthiner merely feel: they live by these principles and happily pass them on to their guests.
