Description

Description:
Fine ruby red in the glass. The complex fruity bouquet is reminiscent of blood orange and forest floor. Delicate and well structured, this straightforward and independent Pinot Noir convinces on the palate with present, natural tannins and a surprising freshness and fruit sweetness. Salty, long-lasting and elegant on the finish. A Pinot Noir with a strong expression.

Grape variety:
Pinot Noir - Alto Adige IGT Weinberg Dolomiten.

Production area:
The historic Pinot Noir vineyard at 450 metres above sea level near the Tschindlhof estate, as well as the underlying Pagis vineyard, are among the most valuable terroirs in Appiano. The cool air currents descending from the Mendelberg have a decisive influence on the climate. The loamy soils here are very calcareous and are particularly suitable for Burgundy varieties. The high iron content in the calcareous marl gives the Pinot Noir a slight taste of blood orange, among other things.

Vinification:
The grapes are selected in several passes. The grapes are destemmed and transported via a chute into a 20 hl. fermentation pot. After several days of pre-crushing, fermentation takes place spontaneously with whole berries thanks to natural yeasts. After about three weeks of maceration with careful manual punching down, the wine is gently pressed and clarified by natural sedimentation. Further ageing takes place for approx. 15 months in new and used 500 lt. oak barrels.

Food Pairing:
A versatile food companion for special moments, ideal with roasted and grilled red meat, game and matured cheese.

Serving temperature:
16 - 18°C. In order to develop its full potential, the wine needs time to breathe.

Ageing potential:
more than 10 years.

Bottle to:
750 ml - 75 cl - 0,75 lt.

Allergens:
Wine can contain sulphites.

Producer:
Abraham Winery
The family business Winery Abraham in St. Michael / Eppan was founded by Martin Abraham and Marlies Pohl Abraham with the aim of processing their own grapes into high-quality wines. Martin and Marlies Abraham are winemakers by conviction. They live their passion. They use the knowledge and creative power of their ancestors as the foundation of their actions today. Now it is their turn to carry this deep-rooted passion forward. THE FUTURE NEEDS A GENUINE. Working with nature means compromising. Again and again new areas of tension arise between acting and letting go. This tightrope walk is a daily challenge. When you inhale the scent of rain-soaked earth, you will become aware of the uniqueness and diversity of this terroir. In the west of the vineyards we find dolomite rock, limestone marl, red clay and sand from the debris cone of the Mendel Mountains. In the east, moraine soils from the last ice age are predominant, mixed with volcanic rock made of quartz porphyry with a very high mineral content.

Notes of black cherries, forest berries and violets. The lingering, lengthy finish pairs meaty toast aromas with cocoa and cedar. Ripe tannins remain juicy until the end, giving the wine a lush finish.Bottle to: 750 ml - 75 cl - 0,75 lt.
