Description

Description: 
Purple to garnet red, with balsam notes of walnuts and blackcurrants. Full bodied and grainy, with pleasing astringency and a persistent finish; dry. 

Grape variety: 
Merlot - South Tyrol DOC 

Production area: 
Southeast-facing slope between Termeno and Caldaro at 300m a.s.l. and Piglon/Laimburg near Vadena, southeast exposure at 300m a.s.l. Loamy, chalky gravel soil. 

Vinification: 
15 months maturation in large oak barrels. 

Food pairing: 
Served with red meat, noble game or matured hard cheese, the Merlot Riserva guarantees a particularly complex drinking pleasure.

Serving temperature: 
15 - 17°C. 

Ageing potential: 
more than 8 years.

Laimburg Province Winery was established in 1975 as part of the Laimburg Research Center in Italy’s alpine Alto Adige region. With 20 total hectares of vineyards located in various cultivation areas, soils, and microclimates ranging from 200-750 meters in altitude.
