Lagrein - South Tyrol DOC - Lagrein is one of the indigenous grape varieties of South Tyrol.
Production area:
The vine prefers warm, sunny places as on the valley floor. It grows best on alluvial gravel soils. The best areas for Lagrein can be found near Bolzano and Egna, where the grapes for the Lagrein Rieder come from.

Vinification:
Manual harvest, fermentation in traditional concrete tanks, maceration of 8 - 12 days, maturation on the yeast for 6 months.
Matching:
The Lagrein is ideal for strong starters, roasted meat, game, aged cheese.

18 - 20°C.
Ageing potential:
more than 5 years.

The Castelfeder Estate Winery was founded in Egna more than 50 years ago by Alfons Giovanett, but since that time, hardly anything has remained the same. “The product line has been expanded, production has increased, the processes in the winery have been modernized, and the market has become more international,” says Günther Giovanett, who took over the estate from his father Alfons and runs it with his children Ivan and Ines. Today, the Castelfeder Estate Winery encompasses 65 hectares, on which 70 percent is planted with white wine varieties.“The focus is on Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon Blanc,” Giovanett explains. With the red wines, the concentration is on Pinot Noir.
