Description: Color: intensive straw yellow with a delicate green shimmer. Nose: Ripe fruit aromas of apricot, mandarin and passion fruit mingle with elements of elderberry, nettle and mint. Taste: The fruitiness continues on the palate in combination with a fine acidity. The wine scores with a good structure and a minerally but at the same time aromatic finish.
Grape variety: Sauvignon - Terlano South Tyrol DOC
Production area: Terlano is a wine-growing village located halfway between Alto Adige's main towns of Merano and Bolzano where the Adige flows through a wide valley in a south-easterly direction. The village and vineyards nestle against the red porphyry rock of Monte Tschöggl on the orographically left side of the valley. Sandy-stony, well-drained soils.
Vinification: Manual harvest and selection of the grapes; gentle whole cluster pressing and clarification of the must by natural sedimentation; slow fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, aging on the lees partly in stainless steel tanks (80%) and partly in big wooden barrels (20%) for 5-7 months; blending one month before bottling.
Food pairing: An interesting combination in spring with boiled white asparagus in Bolzano sauce as well as with steamed green asparagus; also with tuna carpaccio, smoked salmon and raw langoustines; and a typical South Tyrolean choice with nettle dumplings, as well as poached trout with vegetables or young goat’s cheese.
Serving temperature: 10 - 12°C.
Ageing potential: more than 10 years.
Bottle size: 750 ml - 75 cl - 0,75 lt.
Allergens: Wine can contain sulphites.
Producer: Terlano Winery Terlano’s tradition as a wine terroir dates back over 2000 years. That vines thrive so well in the lee of Monzoccolo is due to the mild, almost Mediterranean climate with hot sunny days and cool nights during the ripening time. The striking red, easily warmed porphyry soil of Terlano also contributes to the high quality of the grapes. In the heart of this South Tyrolean wine region the Terlano winery was established in 1893. Today the co-operative has over 200 members and a total area of 240 hectares. 70% of the vineyard acreage is planted with white grapes. In modern cellars the fruits of this careful, natural cultivation are turned into wine with that perfect touch and the necessary controls.Because of the mineral content of the wines the region of Terlano is also frequently likened to French vine growing areas. The Terlano wine characteristics, the precise fruit, and the fine yet strong aroma lead experts to compare the wine with mature vintage Champagnes.

The Sauvignon Kofl is often tight and closed when it is young but its vigor, power and mineral backbone are clear to see. Maturation in large oak casks and stirring of the lees afford this elegant Sauvignon additional complexity and length. The hints of fruit are reminiscent of the wild aromas that the katabatic winds carry with them from the forests...
