Description

Description:
Golden yellow colour. In the still glass, this wonderful Riesling expresses a hint of pink pepper. After gently swirling the glass, fruity aromas of mandarin, grapefruit, melon and peach evolve. On the palate, the wine is smooth and enveloping, infused with effervescent acidity. Very balanced and long on the palate.

Grape varierty:
Riesling.

Production area:
The Pündericher Marienburg vineyard is located on the opposite bank of the river to Pünderich and is south-southeast facing.
The original area of Pündericher Marienburg, directly below the former Marienburg monastery, is dominated by grey slate. The vineyards were planted recently after a land consolidation around 1988 and have now reached a good age, the wines are increasingly structured and mineral.

Vinification:
Fermentation of the must starts spontaneously, thanks to the presence of indigenous yeasts. Maturation takes place in large oak barrels and lasts 8 months. Aristocratic Riesling, noblesse oblige.

Food pairing:
Ideal with fish and seafood dishes or an aperitif with anchovies or spaghetti alla bottarga. It also goes very well with mature cheeses and spicy dishes.

Serving temperature:
12 - 14°C.

Ageing potential:
more than 10years.

Bottle to:
750 ml - 75 cl - 0,75 lt.

Allergens:
wine can contains sulphites.

Producer:
Clemens Busch Estate - Kirchstrasse 37 - 56862 Pünderich - Germany.
Clemens Busch took over the management of the family business in 1986, although he has always worked alongside his father in the vineyard. Clemens firmly believes in natural methods combined with traditional practices that best respect nature and give the wines maximum territorial expression. His role model is Pierre Masson, one of the pioneers of biodynamics in Burgundy. The vineyards are cultivated biodynamically, which is a rarity in the Moselle because of the steep slopes and the amount of work required. Clemens Busch is certified by "Respekt biodyn" and is a member of "Renaissance Des Appellations", an association of winegrowers with a similar philosophy of natural cultivation and winemaking. Located in the heart of the Moselle, the winery owns 16 of the 25 hectares of the famous "Marienburg" vineyard (80 hectares in total, of which only 25 hectares are on a slope) in the commune of Pünderich, where the winery is located. This vineyard, from which Clemens obtains most of its production, is considered one of the most beautiful sites on the Moselle: it faces completely south, lies directly on the Moselle on the right bank and has a steep slope that makes mechanical cultivation absolutely impossible. Over the course of time, Clemens has acquired a monopoly on several plots of this beautiful vineyard, located on different soils and with different microclimates. Clemens uses three-coloured capsules on the bottles to indicate the three different types of slate found in the Marienburg vineyard (grey, red and blue). The vineyards are at least 40 years old and Riesling accounts for 99% of the production. The cuvées produced are identified by the names of the plots: Fahrlay, Falkenlay, Rothenpfad and Felsterrasse. 80% of the wines are vinified in very old 10-hectolitre barrels, the youngest of which is 48 years old. Today, the company passes into the hands of his son Johannes.
