Description:
Ruby red color with a tendency to purple reflections. Aromas of wild berries with a prevalence of ripe sour cherries. Well balanced, full and long lasting.

Production area:
All the vineyards are located in the most suitable areas of Barile and are between 450 and 600 m above sea level with a southeast orientation. Among these "Lo Storico", a beautiful old vineyard. The soil consists of volcanic rock, tufa and clay soil.
Vinification:
Maceration and fermentation in stainless steel tanks for about 20 days. Aged for 12 months in barriques and tonneaux made of French oak with a second and third occupancy. This is followed by bottle aging for at least 12 months.
Food Pairing:
Starters, pasta dishes, meat dishes, game and aged cheeses.
Serving temperature:
16 - 18°C.
Ageing potential:
over 6 years.

Producer:
Basilisco was founded in the early 1990s and immediately strived for the highest quality, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. In a few years the winery became a jewel of the southern wine scene. The face and soul of Basilisco is Viviana Malafarina, who runs the company and takes care of the cellar with great passion under the expert guidance of Pierpaolo Sirch, who is also responsible for the cultivation of the vineyards.
