Description:
Dark ruby red colour. The nose associates small black fruits with notes of cherries in spirit and spices, tobacco and chocolate. Very persuasive on the palate, enveloping and velvety tannins, powerful but always balanced by good freshness.
Grape variety:
Sangiovese (60 - 80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10 - 20%), Merlot and Syrah (20 - 40%) - Ravenna Rosso IGP
Production area:
On the first slopes of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines, across the gentle hills that connect Faenza to Tuscany, one travels through the Marzeno valley and at the village of the same name, on the right-hand side in a southerly direction, one finds the Fattoria Zerbina vineyards, all strictly hilly and bush-trained.
Vinification:
Part in 500-litre French oak tonneaux for a fortnight with manual punching-down and pumping-over, part in medium-capacity steel tanks with 15 - 21 days' maceration. Ageing in French oak barriques (20% new) and a small percentage also of American and Hungarian oak (10%) for twelve months.
Food pairing:
Goes well with mature cheeses, pasta with meat sauce, game, stewed red meat, roast or grilled meat.
Serving temperature:
16 - 18°C.
Ageing potential:
more than 10 years.

It all began in 1966 when Vincenzo Geminiani, immediately after purchasing the estate of the same name, decided to plant the first vineyards and start producing wine, immediately obtaining - according to the quality parameters of the time - numerous awards.
In 1987 there was a qualitative turning point: Cristina Geminiani, Vincenzo's granddaughter, the current owner of the company and responsible for agronomic and oenological management, decided to dive into this "adventure" in the first person, with the aim of valorising Sangiovese and Albana.
