Description

Description:
The Kerner is an aromatic white wine that feels particularly at home in the Eisack Valley. Manni Nössing's Kerner is green-linch, light yellow in colour. The nose opens with a large and intense aromatic bouquet with a lively mineral texture, enriched with pleasant herbal, hay and citrus scents. In the mouth, it impresses with minerality and fresh acidity, very well paired with fruit, such as notes of peach, apricot and tangerine. A racy wine that is certainly one of the best in its class. The celebrated wine from the Hoandlhof, of "Mr. Kerner", as Manni Nössing is also titled.

Grape varierty:
Kerner - South Tyrol Valle Isarco DOC.

Production area:
The steep vineyards of the Valle Isarco mostly extend between 500 and 900 metres above sea level. In general, the area is warm during the day and cold at night and is characterised by sandy and mineral soils; however, the microclimate varies from vineyard to vineyard. This makes it possible to produce unique, fine and fresh wines.

Vinification:
After de-stemming and soft pressing, the grapes ferment partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in acacia barrels at a controlled temperature of 16 to 18°C. The wine then remains on the fine lees for 5 months before being bottled.

Food pairing:
Perfect with starters and fish dishes, ideal in combination with sushi and raw fish.

Serving temperature:
10 - 12°C.

Ageing potential:
more than 5 years.

Bottle size:
750 ml - 75 cl - 0,75 lt.

Allergens:
contains sulphites.

Producer:
Manni Nössing, an idealistic and stubborn winegrower, grew up in a family that owned a farm called 'Hoandlhof'. Situated on a hill that magnificently overlooks the city of Brixen, it originally subsisted on cattle breeding. This is its history.

In 1999, the vineyard was planted. Although wine cooperatives and large wine cellars had a long tradition in the Eisack Valley, Manni Nössing decided to vinify his grapes independently, aiming from the outset to bring out the origin and character in his bottles, as well as an independent style and a distinct identity.

He was soon nicknamed 'the rebel'. In 2003, he launched his first Kerner onto the market, which immediately won the Tre Bicchieri award from the leading Italian wine guide. Since then, the success has never stopped. On an area of six hectares, he now produces Sylvaner, Riesling, Veltliner, Müller Thurgau and an excellent Kerner, which for years has earned him the nickname 'Mr Kerner' in Italy and abroad.
