Description:
Intense red wine of garnet red color. The typical French blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot gives the wine the velvety of the Merlot and the fruity of the Cabernet. Extremely fruity on the nose and only accompanied, not dominated, by wood. Notes of cassis and vanilla appear on the nose. Complex in the mouth with notes of blackcurrant and berries. Very pleasant, harmonious and silky taste with soft tannins. Peppery in the finish and pleasantly elegant.

Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot - South Tyrol Alto Adige DOC

Production area:
Neumarkt / Egna - South Tyrolean Unterland. Cabernet Sauvignon grows on the southern slope of an ice age moraine hill, called "Learn", which can only be worked by hand. The soil of this hill is made up of a mixture of limestone marl, slate and dolomite, based on a porphyry layer. On the foot of the southern slope with pure loamy soil grows the variety Merlot.

Vinification:
The musts are fermented at a controlled temperature in steel barrels. The must is pumped over and over again. The maturation takes place for 12 months in barriques, then for 6 months in steel barrels. Ageing for 6 months in the bottle.

Food Pairing:
It is a great accompaniment to roastbeef and red meats.

Serving temperature:
16 - 18°C.

Ageing potential:
more than 10 years.

The term Glassier« from the Latin enclosure« indicated properties which, like the Glassierhof, were bounded by a circular wall. The farm, known for being built in 1663, has been in the family for nine generations. Its primary objective is the quality of the wines. Quality can only be achieved if all wine production processes, from cultivation to bottling, are carefully observed. That is why this farm is managed according to organic guidelines. True quality begins in the vineyard. This work and tradition will continue in the future and the range of wines, consisting of Lagrein, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Schiava, Sauvignon and a cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, will continue to be elaborated to the best of our knowledge and in harmony with nature.
