Description:
Brilliant golden yellow colour. Aroma with hints of ripe banana, pleasantly soft wood notes and a hint of hazelnut. Elegant and full-bodied on the palate, even, with a nice mineral freshness and buttery creaminess.

Grape variety:
Chardonnay - Alto Adige DOC Riserva.

Production area:
Cardano at 380 m a.s.l., deep sandy porphyry soil.

Vinification:
Gentle whole-grape pressing, 12 hours of maceration, natural sedimentation of the must and controlled fermentation in stainless steel barrels. Approximately 30% of the grapes are fermented in open casks for 3 weeks on the must.

Batonnage until April with maturation "sur lies" until the end of May. 100% matured in French oak Tonneau (50% new and 50% second passage) for 8 months, further 5 months bottle ageing.

Food pairing:
the wine goes well with hearty starters, light white meat dishes. Also suitable for first courses with truffle variants and creamy cheeses.

Serving temperature:
10 - 12°C.

Ageing potential:
more than 8 years.

The brothers Markus and Thomas Puff are responsible for the wine production at the impressively 700 year-old Pitznerhof in Cardano at the entrance to the Valle Isarco. Their farmhouse lies at an elevation of precisely 350 meters, but the three hectares of grape growing areas are on steep slopes with deep, sandy weathered porphyry soils. “We attempt to integrate the local conditions and the microclimate into the production process in the best possible way". And in the winery, there is also the underlying principle of working with the grapes gently. Thus the overall picture comes together of production that is close to nature along the entire chain. “We try to fulfill our responsibility by stressing nature as little as possible".
