Description:
Lively terracotta reveals pepper, cloves and nutmeg on the palate, between hints of leather and an intense fruitiness of berries, especially blackberry. Compensating for rough and dense tannins. Tough and taut, it fills the mouth, slowly fading into aromas of dried figs.

Schiava/Vernatsch - South Tyrol DOC

Production area:
The classic Kalterer red wine region is located on the sometimes rising altitudes between 215 and 315 m above sea level. On these deep limestone gravel soils, which the glacier has transported here, the local varieties for Lake Caldaro develop their highest potential, as does the international grape variety Cabernet Franc. The Mediterranean climate at the lake with lots of sun and the afternoon wind is particularly important for these varieties.

Vinification:
After the late harvest, the wine is fermented in steel tanks and then matures for approx. 2Y in French and local oak barrels.

Matching:
Goes excellently with hearty dishes such as goulash, home-made sausage with cabbage and mature cheese.

Serving temperature:
8 - 10°C.

Ageing potential:
over 10 years.

The history of the estate begins in 2005, when Andi Sölva collects the legacy of his parents and takes over the reins of the family winery. Always devoted to a strong spirit of independence, in 2007 he began making his own winemaking, driven by the desire to enhance, in his own way, the uniqueness and variety of the lands that embrace Lake Caldaro. A strong passion that leads him to carefully follow each grape in its maturation process, in full respect of nature and its rhythms, without ever neglecting the main objective: quality. In fact, to give life to extraordinary wines, the grapes have always been picked only after reaching the ideal degree of ripeness.

Andi Sölva's estate is a small structure in which many activities are carried out directly by the owner himself, from the care of the vines to careful manual selection. For this reason the production of bottles is limited.
