Description: 
TAL 1908: Passion and patience were the best foundations for our first superior cuvées. A lot of passion and energy, experience and knowledge went into it. The result of years of incessant searching and tireless experimentation by winegrowers and cellar masters to compose the best grapes into a unique pleasure experience. This is how we gave our superior red wine a comprehensible name: TAL with the year 1908, the year the Gries winery was founded. The history is closely linked to three rivers, but the Talfer has had the most lasting influence. It is not without reason that Bolzano is also known as the city of Talfer.
A symphony of ripe fruit on the nose, especially the aroma of raspberries, redcurrants and blackberries, with light notes of pepper and cloves, combined with hints of cocoa, graphite and liquorice in the depths. Overall, the cuvée is as elegant as an ornate fan.
The TAL 1908 caresses the palate with complex harmony, it is extremely pleasant and soft, with a balance of mineral freshness and pleasant acidity. The finish is mildly opulent. 

Grape varierty: 
80% Lagrein, 17% Cabernet und 3% Merlot - Alto Adige DOC

Production area: 
The winegrowers have the historical floods to thank for a very special terroir. Alluvial soils on porphyry bedrock form an excellent basis, especially for Lagrein, but also for Cabernet and Merlot. The volcanic Bolzano porphyry favours wines with a particularly strong character thanks to its water permeability and mineral deposits. 

Vinification: 
The TAL 1908 matures for 12 months in small oak barrels, French barriques. This is followed by 15 months of ageing in concrete barrels, whose fine pores allow air exchange, before finally achieving its final finesse in the bottle. These strict principles in viticulture and the cellar are a prerequisite for the richness of flavour. 

Food pairing: 
This full-bodied wine is an excellent accompaniment to roasts, game and flavoursome mature cheeses.

16 - 18°C.

more than 15 years.
