Description: 
Intense garnet red. Fruity aroma reminiscent of small berries and cherry. Spicy notes of chocolate with nuances of roasted aromas. Intense red wine characterised by well-balanced soft tannins. Very harmonious with a lingering finish.

Lagrein - Alto Adige DOC 

Production area: 
Caldaro Feld at 250 m a.s.l. 

Vinification: 
Fermentation on the lees for 4 weeks in steel barrels. Subsequent ageing for 20 months in new and used oak barrels. 

Food pairing: 
this wine can be served with red meat dishes, game and mature cheeses, but it should also be drunk as a meditation wine. 

Serving temperature: 
10 - 12°C. 

Ageing potential: 
more than 5 years. 

Bottle size: 
750 ml - 75 cl - 0,75 lt.

Thomas Pichler knows wine in all of its facets and, in fact, in greater detail than most others. And that is not just because he comes from a family of Caldaro winegrowers and therefore himself grew up with wine cultivation. Rather, it is because he has worked for nearly three decades in different wine laboratories. But since wine under laboratory conditions obviously was not sufficient for him, he also now produces wine himself – at the Thomas Pichler Estate Winery in Caldaro. Over half of the production is made up of Kalterersee and Lagrein,  followed by Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
