Cuvée Rosso s.l.m. 448 2024 - 13,5% vol. Cornaiano Winery

Description: 
A fresh, light and fruity wine with a velvety, smooth texture and intense aromas of wild berries and spices.

Lagrein, Pinot Noir, Schiava - South Tyrol DOC 

Production area: 
The name ‘448 s.l.m.’ refers to the geographical location of the historic Girlan Winery estate, situated 448 metres above sea level. The wine is a cuvée made from the three main red grape varieties grown in our cultivation area. Here, the soils are rich in minerals, formed from sediments dating back to the Ice Age. 

Vinification: 
The grapes are harvested by hand and delivered in small containers. They are destemmed and fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation. Ageing in concrete vats: 

Food pairing: 
Especially suitable for roasts, game and spicy cheeses. 

Serving temperature: 
12 - 14°C. 

Ageing potential: 
2 - 3 years.

750 ml - 75 cl - 0,75 lt.

wine can contain sulphites.

Cantina Girlan 
The Cantina Girlan was founded in 1923 in an ancient farmstead from the XVI century. Back then 23 winegrowers laid the foundation stones of what was later to become the winery we see today. The walls, steeped in ancient tradition, and the labyrinthine corridors of the cellar harbour the secrets of state-of-the-art winemaking technology and hold the ideal conditions for ageing our wines. In 2010, work was started to modernize the cellar and bring it into line with modern technical standards. 
Today, about 200 greatly committed and motivated winegrowers and their families farm an area covering about 220 hectares of vineyards in the best production areas of Oltradige and Bassa Atesina. Our enologist, Gerhard Kofler, keeps in close personal contact with the winegrowers and provides his professional advice during the growing season. This beneficial exchange of expertise sets the foundations for producing highest quality wines. 
Our tenets 
We pursue the following main objectives: we seek, on one hand, to showcase and promote the historic local grape varieties and on the other, to create impressive characterful wines using international grape varieties yet keeping them closely connected to the land. This is all achieved while respecting nature's flow and rhythms.
