Description: Ruby red colour. Ample and complex bouquet, initially reminiscent of violets and red berries such as currants and cherries, followed by pleasant hints of sweet spices. Elegant on the palate, it is characterised by mineral nuances and subtle balsamic tones. Very long in persistence.
All Fontodi wines are made from organic grapes from their own vineyards, hand-picked, carefully selected and vinified in a way that enhances the character of the vines and the terroir.
Production area: Various vineyards within the estate
Vinification: Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and maceration in stainless steel tanks with fullers and thermal control for at least 2 weeks. Maturation in Troncais and Allier barriques for 18 months.
Food pairing: Excellent with Florentine-style tripe, cured meats, dry first courses, Florentine steaks and moderately mature cheeses.
Serving temperature: 16 - 18°C.
Ageing potential: 6 - 8 years.

Producer: Azienda agricola Fontodi Fontodi is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, more precisely in the valley that opens up south of the village of Panzano known as the "Conca d'oro". This is a terroir that has been renowned for centuries for its vocation for quality viticulture due to the unique combination of high altitude, marl soils, great luminosity and a fantastic microclimate that is warm, dry and with a wide temperature range.
Since 1968, Fontodi has belonged to the Manetti family, which for centuries has been dedicated to another typically Chiantian activity: the production of the famous terracotta. Precisely in the name of this strong bond with the territory and with a great passion for quality, the company has successfully turned towards an ever more careful cultivation of the vineyards and a deeper knowledge of the potential of Sangiovese in the Panzano area.
