Description:
Light green lusters run through the radiant straw-yellow colour of this wine. Its aroma is rich in fruits, the most striking of which are pears and apples. An excellent balance gives this wine strength and structure. It is dry and smooth on the palate with a pleasant, mineral aftertaste.
Grape variety:
Pinot Gridio - South Tyrol DOC
Production area:
The grapes for this wine grow in the best vineyards around the villages of Cortina, Margrè and Salorno in the Bassa Atesina production area, one of the most traditional in Alto Adige. Deep, heavy soils (loamy and clayey) with several parts of sand.
Vinification:
The grapes were softly pressed, clarified through natural gravity settling of the sediments and finally fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures (18 - 21°C) to retain the classic aromatic qualities. Prior to bottling the wine is aged for a minimum of 4 months on the fine lees in the tank.
Food pairing:
Pinot Grigio goes well with many dishes, especially lighter foods, fried mushrooms and fresh water fish.
Serving temperature:
10 - 12°C.
Ageing potential:
more than 5 years.
Bottle to:
1500 ml - 150 cl - 1,5 lt.
Allergens:
wine can contain suphites.
Producer:
Castelfeder Winery
The Castelfeder Estate Winery was founded in Egna more than 50 years ago by Alfons Giovanett, but since that time, hardly anything has remained the same. “The product line has been expanded, production has increased, the processes in the winery have been modernized, and the market has become more international,” says Günther Giovanett, who took over the estate from his father Alfons and runs it with his children Ivan and Ines. Today, the Castelfeder Estate Winery encompasses 65 hectares, on which 70 percent is planted with white wine varieties.“The focus is on Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon Blanc,” Giovanett explains. With the red wines, the concentration is on Pinot Noir.
