Description:
Unlike numerous other insipid rose coloured wines, this is a rosé with strong personality, freshness and fragrance similar to a fine white wine but with the rich fruit and roundness of a young red intended for early drinking. Bright and translucent, almost strawberry red in colour with clear fruit on the nose, while on the palate it is open, harmonious with fresh, mouth-watering acidity. A seductive and eminently inviting wine.

Lagrein - Merlot Vigneto delle Dolomiti IGT

Production area:
Vineyards around Termeno. Clay and gravel soil.

Vinification:
The grapes are de-stemmed and the juice is macerated with the skins for one day, after which the mass is pressed. In this way the juice absorbs only a modest amount of the grape's rich colour pigments, to yield a rosé wine with such a seductive colour.

Food pairing:
Appetisers, smoked fish, white meats and bollito misto (mixed boiled meats).

Serving temperature:
10 - 12°C.

Ageing potential:
more than 3 years.

In 1907, Josef Hofstätter founded a winery in Termeno which has developed today into the largest family estate winery in all of Alto Adige. Areas of cultivation of 50 hectares in the west and the east of the Bassa Atesina, in the south of Trentino and, as the first winegrower from Italy, even to the Saarland in Germany are tended under the direction of Martin Foradori and the J. Hofstätter brand.
Soils, climate, elevation: all of these should be reflected by the wines of J. Hofstätter. They focus on local grapes: Pinot Blanc, Lagrein, Schiava, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Noir.
