Lake of Caldaro Classico Sup. Plantaditsch 2023 - 13,5% vol. Klosterhof Winery

Description: 
Light and bright ruby red color, with an elegant bouquet of delicate fruit notes, reminiscent of cherries and violets, and with a slight hint of bitter almond. Fresh and balanced. A very typical, light, low-tannin red wine for every day. 

Grape variety: 
Vernatsch / Schiava, pure from one location - South Tyrol DOC. 

Production area: 
Vineyard "Plantaditsch", in the south of the village of Kaltern/Caldaro on the South Tyrolean Wine Road towards Lake Kaltern/Caldaro at an altitude of 380 meters, with a slight slope to the south: ideal area for the cultivation of Vernatsch/Schiava. Clayey soil, with the presence of sand, limestone debris and traces of loess. 

Vinification: 
The hand-picked grapes are separated from the stems and then sorted by hand. Only the best berries are used for the mash fermentation. Fermentation to 50% in wooden casks and 50% in steel vats at a controlled temperature and subsequent malolactic fermentation. 

Food pairing: 
It goes well with typical South Tyrolean products such as Speck and smoked sausage, but also with pasta dishes, white meat or mild cheese. An ideal wine for any occasion. 

Serving temperature: 
13 - 16°C. 

Ageing potential: 
more than 5 years.

750 ml - 75 cl - 0.75 lt.

Wine can contain sulphites.

The winegrower and cellarmaster Andergassen Oskar and his son Hannes are focusing on maintaining tradition in combination with modern cellar techniques. Harvests by hand, gently pressing processes, controlled fermentations and the aging process in wood tanks ensure wines of high quality. Since 1999 we are producing red and white wine. The whole production is processed, vinified and bottled in our winery.
