Blauburgunder Riserva Vigna Ganger 2020 - 14,5% vol. Cornaiano Winery

Description: 
Color: Intensive ruby red. Aroma: Ripe fruits, cherries and sour cherries, wild berries, raspberries and a hint of marzipan. Taste: Elegant and refined, very emphatic, with good acidity and spicy notes. Optimum structure with soft and well balanced tannins.

Production area: 
In 2008 we began the search for a site that is ideally suited to the production of Pinot Noir. Years of thorough research and countless tests with mini production volumes finally led us to the perfect site, the Ganger monopole. It is located in Mazon, at between 360 and 380 meters above sea-level, with a southwesterly exposure and a slope of 3–5%, and has a unique microclimate and deep calcareous clayey soils. This is the home of our Pinot Noir Riserva Vigna Ganger, a wine as incomparable and unique as the site itself. 

Vinification: 
The fully mature grapes are harvested manually at mid of September and delivered in small containers. The grapes - one fifth of them is vinified in  form of whole clusters - was filled by gravity into the steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation (25 days). Following malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged for 20 months in barriques and then stored for further 18 months in the bottle. 

Food pairing: 
Elegant companion to main courses with red meats, roasts and game. Also ideal with mature cheeses. 

Serving temperature: 
14 - 16°C. 

Ageing potential: 
more than 15 years.

Cantina Girlan 
The Cantina Girlan was founded in 1923 in an ancient farmstead from the XVI century. Back then 23 winegrowers laid the foundation stones of what was later to become the winery we see today. The walls, steeped in ancient tradition, and the labyrinthine corridors of the cellar harbour the secrets of state-of-the-art winemaking technology and hold the ideal conditions for ageing our wines. In 2010, work was started to modernize the cellar and bring it into line with modern technical standards. 
Today, about 200 greatly committed and motivated winegrowers and their families farm an area covering about 220 hectares of vineyards in the best production areas of Oltradige and Bassa Atesina. Our enologist, Gerhard Kofler, keeps in close personal contact with the winegrowers and provides his professional advice during the growing season. This beneficial exchange of expertise sets the foundations for producing highest quality wines. 
Our tenets 
We pursue the following main objectives: we seek, on one hand, to showcase and promote the historic local grape varieties and on the other, to create impressive characterful wines using international grape varieties yet keeping them closely connected to the land. This is all achieved while respecting nature's flow and rhythms.
