Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 Silver Oak Winery

Description: 
Ruby red in colour, the nose has hints of chocolate covered strawberries, vanilla, nutmeg, truffles and sage. The palate is enveloping and creamy with flavours of cranberries and raspberries mingling with balsamic and black olive notes. The tannin is soft and the finish is long and balanced. 

A wonderful expression of regional character, the Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet seamlessly blends bright fruit with savoury notes and a graceful, fluid texture. Look for aromas of sage and thyme embellishing a core of red fruit, rich with wild strawberries, raspberries and freshly picked plums. Stimulated by fresh acidity, the wine offers its flavours in an elegant, medium body that provides deceptive intensity thanks to a light structure and fine, tightly bound tannins. 

Grape varierty: 
95.3% cabernet sauvignon, 3.7% merlot, 0.4% petit verdot, 0.3% cabernet franc, 0.3% malbec 

Production area: 
The Alexander Valley soils combine material from erosion in the Mayacamas Mountains with gravel and sandy loam deposited by the Russian River in different ways. The result is a bank of vibrant, mineral-rich soils that drain excellently, an essential quality for growing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. Located between 200 and 250 feet, the Alexander Valley Estate, Miraval, Red Tail, Big River and Crazy Creek vineyards are all located above the valley floor, which is too fertile, but not so high that ripening is problematic. 

Vinification: 
Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in American oak barrels from our cooperage, The Oak. Each vintage, the wines mature in a 50-50 ratio of new to used oak barrels.

Ideal paired with a Florentine steak.

Today, Silver Oak is the best-selling premium Californian Cabernet Sauvignon in America, and despite the many takeover bids it has received, it continues to be a family-owned business, with Ray Duncan's son David Duncan now at the helm.
