Description: Bright ruby red colour. The intense aroma of red fruit jam stands out against a floral background underlined by a light spiciness. On the palate it unfolds with a good acid structure and soft tannins. A powerful Brunello that will find its best balance with time.
Grape variety: Sangiovese - Brunello di Montalcino DOCG
Production area: Located in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, at the foot of Monte Amiata, the steep vineyards develop on the south-facing slopes at an altitude of between 200 and 400 metres. The soils are rich in skeletons, with galestro (silt) and clay predominating in the lower part of the slope, and clay and conglomerates in the upper part.
Vinification: In the winery everything is done in the traditional way, from vinification in wooden vats to spontaneous fermentation and a very long maceration. Maturation takes place in 30 hl oak barrels for 48 months and in bottles for 8 months. Poggio di Sotto's Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is not filtered before bottling.
Food pairing: Pair with all meals, roasted and braised red meats, game and mature cheeses.
Serving temperature: 16 - 18°C.
Ageing potential: more than 20 years.
Bottle size: 750 ml - 75 cl - 0,75 lt.
Allergens: wine can contain sulphites.
Producer: Poggio di Sotto The Fattoria Poggio di Sotto was founded in 1989 on the south-eastern slope of the Montalcino hill, which has always been considered one of the best for the production of Sangiovese. The vineyards cover a slope that gradually rises from 200 to 400 metres above sea level. Protected by Monte Amiata on one side, open to the sea breezes on the other and caressed by the banks of the River Orcia, the estate enjoys a unique microclimate that benefits from significant temperature variations even in high summer.
