Description:
Very dark ruby colour, signs of maturity and a pleasant oak accent. A red wine with a strong character. The grapes selected for this Lagrein Riserva develop their full aroma, strength and personality in the wine. The result is an expressive, fruity and dense Lagrein with velvety - soft tannins and a distinct varietal character. It is intense and powerful, but also supple and elegant. It is highly appreciated for its combination of soil characteristics, as the results prove.

Production area:
The grapes from which Lagrein Riserva is vinified grow on the Bolzano soil, 270m above sea level on deep, warm, well-aerated, gravelly alluvial soils of the Eisack river.

Vinification:
After the harvest, the grapes are destemmed with great care and the must ferments at a controlled temperature for about 12 days. The marc cap is gently pushed under, so that the mash comes into contact with the fermenting must. In this way, extract and colour substances as well as aroma components are extracted. After fermentation, the young wine is transferred to small oak barrels where it is aged and matured for 24 months.

Food pairing:
This mature red wine goes well with strong dishes with grilled or roasted dark meat, game dishes, spicy cheeses and dark chocolate.

Serving temperature:
16 - 18°C.

Ageing potential:
more than 10 years.

1500 ml - 150 cl - 1,5 lt.

The Pfannenstielhof is located in the valley on the eastern border of Bolzano, in the middle of the vineyards. It is a pure red wine company with the two characteristic wines S. Maddalena and Lagrein. We operate natural and integrated viticulture. This also includes careful manual work, whether for winter pruning, defoliation, yield reduction or grape harvesting. We are particularly attached to the land on which our vines grow and, guided by our hands, we want to make the most of it. We consider it our task to capture the uniqueness of our soils in wine and to produce quality wines typical of the place and of the variety, which impress with their authenticity and individuality.
