Pinot Grigio Alia Magnum 2023 - 13% vol. Morandell Winery
Description:
The Pinot Blanc "Vom Muschelkalk" impresses with its bright yellow-green color in the glass. The bouquet is reminiscent of citrus fruits and apples. On the palate the wine is characterized by a deep, harmonious, natural acidity and a lively minerality, that comes from extremely calcareous soils. The wine is elegant with a long finish. Pinot Blanc "Vom Muschelkalk" is an alpine wine, which impressively reflects the potential of this variety. This is Pinot Blanc too - pure terroir.
Grape variety:
Pinot Blanc - Alto Adige IGT Weinberg Dolomiten.
Production area:
In the locality of Gfillberg - municipality of Appiano at over 600 m a.s.l. lies the highest vineyard of the Abraham Estate. The terroir in this hilly position at the foot of the Mendola Mountains consists of a deep subsoil of porphyry with clayey sediments and gravelly, calcareous and clayey alluvial soil. The very deep red clay soil surprisingly also has shell-like limestone plates (= "Muschelkalk"), which give this Pinot Blanc its name. The result is a very alpine wine, characterized by a deep minerality, freshness and elegance.
Vinification:
The Pinot Bianco is produced from a triple selection of well-ripened grapes. A soft pressing and natural clarification of the must by sedimentation is followed by partially spontaneous fermentation, thanks to natural yeasts, in used 500 liter oak barrels (Tonneaux). After malolactic fermentation, aging takes place for 9 months on the raw lees and partly on the fine lees followed by maturation in steel barrels until the wine is bottled. Very light filtration. The first bottled vintage was 2018.
Food Pairing:
This wine is an ideal accompaniment to meals, particularly suitable for Mediterranean dishes, sea fish, white meat and aromatic cheeses.
Serving temperature:
10 - 12°C. In order to develop its full potential, the wine needs time to breathe.
Ageing potential:
more than 8 years.
Bottle to:
1500 ml - 150 cl - 1,5 lt. Magnum bottle
Allergens:
Wine can contain sulphites.

Abraham Winery
The family business Winery Abraham in St. Michael / Eppan was founded by Martin Abraham and Marlies Pohl Abraham with the aim of processing their own grapes into high-quality wines. Martin and Marlies Abraham are winemakers by conviction. They live their passion. They use the knowledge and creative power of their ancestors as the foundation of their actions today. Now it is their turn to carry this deep-rooted passion forward. THE FUTURE NEEDS A GENUINE. Working with nature means compromising. Again and again new areas of tension arise between acting and letting go. This tightrope walk is a daily challenge. When you inhale the scent of rain-soaked earth, you will become aware of the uniqueness and diversity of this terroir. In the west of the vineyards we find dolomite rock, limestone marl, red clay and sand from the debris cone of the Mendel Mountains. In the east, moraine soils from the last ice age are predominant, mixed with volcanic rock made of quartz porphyry with a very high mineral content.

Grape varierty: 100% Lagrein. Extended time in barrel softens the contours and yields an aromatically expressive, sikly Lagrein unlike none other know. One of Italy's truly great wines, the Lagrein Riserva is absolutely compelling. There is something very human. This is such an expressive, translucend style.Bottle to: 750 ml - 75 cl - 0,75 lt.
