La pera invernale "Liegelts Butterbirne" è una varietà ricca di tradizione e senza dubbio una delle pere invernali più gustose. La pianta è nata in Boemia intorno al 1650 e il sapore unico di cannella dei suoi frutti ha reso il Pyrus communis 'Liegelts Butterbirne' (bot.) uno dei preferiti da molte persone nel corso dei secoli. La varietà di pera si è quindi conservata e ancora oggi fa parlare di sé. Le pere di medie dimensioni sono di forma ovoidale, il che ha dato alla pianta il soprannome di "pera globo". I frutti hanno una buccia liscia e giallastra, più spesso punteggiata di macchie o di ruggine. L'odore è leggermente speziato. La polpa fine, di colore bianco-giallastro, è fondente e molto succosa. Il sapore è delicatamente dolce e ha la tipica piccantezza della pera invernale "Liegelts Butterbirne". Grazie alle rese regolari ed elevate, il proprietario del giardino si gode il raccolto abbondante. Le pere sono mature per la raccolta a fine settembre o inizio ottobre e sono pronte per il consumo fino a gennaio. In condizioni normali di conservazione i frutti non appassiscono, ma è consigliabile controllare la presenza di ticchiolatura.
