Chardonnay Flora Magnum Bottle 2022 - 14% vol. Cornaiano Winery

Description: 
An elegant frame and fine consistency, with intense fruity notes. An excellent structure that is flavoursome and mineral, with a persistent palate. We recommend serving this wine with refined dishes, including meats. 

Grape variety: 
Chardonnay - South Tyrol DOC 

Production area: 
For this extraordinary wine we choose the best Chardonnay grapes from the hillside vineyards of Cornaiano. They grow in different vineyards with an age between 10 and 15 years, at an altitude from 450 to 500 m above sea level. The vines are trained using the Guyot system. The growing area is rich in minerals, the result of ice age sedimentation. 

Vinification: 
The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. Gentle whole cluster pressing and clarification of the must by natural sedimentation. Fermentation in oak barrels of 12 and 50 hl, followed by malolactic fermentation. Aging on the lees in oak barrells for 12 months, and 6 months in the bottle. 

Food pairing: 
Pairing with refined dishes, including meats, is recommended. 

Ageing potential: 
more than 5 years. 

Serving temperature: 
12 - 14°C. 

Bottle to: 
1500 ml - 150 cl - 1,5 lt.

The Cantina Girlan was founded in 1923 in an ancient farmstead from the XVI century. Back then 23 winegrowers laid the foundation stones of what was later to become the winery we see today. The walls, steeped in ancient tradition, and the labyrinthine corridors of the cellar harbour the secrets of state-of-the-art winemaking technology and hold the ideal conditions for ageing our wines. In 2010, work was started to modernize the cellar and bring it into line with modern technical standards. 
Today, about 200 greatly committed and motivated winegrowers and their families farm an area covering about 220 hectares of vineyards in the best production areas of Oltradige and Bassa Atesina. Our enologist, Gerhard Kofler, keeps in close personal contact with the winegrowers and provides his professional advice during the growing season. This beneficial exchange of expertise sets the foundations for producing highest quality wines. 
Our tenets 
We pursue the following main objectives: we seek, on one hand, to showcase and promote the historic local grape varieties and on the other, to create impressive characterful wines using international grape varieties yet keeping them closely connected to the land. This is all achieved while respecting nature's flow and rhythms.
