Grappa Riesling 42% vol. Zu Plun Distillery

Riesling: The Riesling vine produces its best fruit in cooler climates. This is why this variety has become especially popular in Germany, where it takes up a fifth of all cultivated land, but like all varieties of grapevines that thrive in porous, mineral-rich soils which allow for good aeration and cool nights, the Riesling is right at home in Italy’s northernmost vineyards at Bressanone. Therefore, the cultivation of this variety has increased notably in northern Italy. The reasons for this increase in production are the quality of the grape and the search for our own regionally characteristic Riesling. These wines identify themselves through an ethereal fragrance and lively taste. Florian Rabanser distills an equally captivating Riesling grappa of outstanding quality from the Riesling pomace acquired from Köferer Hof in Novacella. Stylistics: The multifaceted fruit scent of the Riesling is also present in this grappa. It has notes of peach, apricot, quince, and green apple. It tastes full-bodied and characteristic, at the same time, it is surprisingly smooth.

Florian Rabanser is a distillation master who lives at the foot of the Dolomites. His spirits, especially the Gin, encapsulates his passion for genuine flavors. 
«I decided to devote myself to something that allowed me to spend more time with my family. So I bought this Alpine farmstead, renovated it and 15 years ago I established the distillery. When i was working as a cook, my task was trying to reach a balance between all the different ingredients. And I still do something similar in my new job, so my past and my present have a lot in common, indeed. The “mental taste” of a cook has been very useful to me. Zu Plun is a very locally rooted company, and its products perfectly display it. Rhum and Gin are corked up, only if I am 100% sure of them. I don’t like trite products; they do not express my being. In other words, it is exactly like my handshake: strong and vigorous!.
