Description:
The friendship between the owners of Avignonesi in Montepulciano and Capannelle in Chianti gave rise to the sought-after 50 & 50 wine. The first vintage was in 1988. During a dinner, the former owners of the two wineries began comparing their wines, arriving at this exceptional blend of 50% Sangiovese from Capannelle and 50% Merlot from Avignonesi. In the glass, it has a deep, dark ruby red colour with purple hues. The nose has a fragrance of small red fruits, blackcurrant, black cherry and blueberry, which then give way to harmonious nuances of undergrowth and sweet spices such as vanilla and cinnamon. It is satisfying on the palate, with sweetness and tannins blending perfectly in a broad, elegant, decisive and harmonious symphony of flavours. The finish is long and the palate is caressed by a silky, soft tannic texture.

The Avignonesi wines enhance the richness and elegance of the Montepulciano heritage. Sangiovese wines have been produced for centuries here, and the fascination that lies around this appellation is elevated by the ”back to basics, no un-natural intervention” approach that biodynamic viticulture entails.
This methodology and the passion shared by all staff for producing high quality products, due to the profound belief in the values shared by the management team, allows us to respect the innate character of each wine by following its natural journey from the soil to the cellar and, finally to the glass!
