Cleopatra Oro is a line of grappa from Poli Distillerie, obtained from the freshest marcs and characterised by extreme fineness and aromatic purity achieved through vacuum distillation with a unique system: Crysopea.
Cleopatra, to whom this line of grappa is dedicated, was the ancient Egyptian alchemist who developed the first still in history for distilling the most precious of metals, gold, and named it Crysopea (from the Greek chrysos, gold, and poirò, to make).
In the 21st century, a new Crysopea, the most innovative vacuum bain-marie still in operation today, was reborn at the Poli Distillery.
The Crysopea is used to distil the marcs of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara for Amarone della Valpolicella to obtain Cleopatra Amarone Oro, an aromatic grappa that is then patiently stored in the underground cellars of the Poli distillery, where the barriques rest for the natural maturation of the distillates.
