The island's permanent natural exposure to the sun also contributes to the high quality of Sicilian fruit. Thus one finds there one of the best qualities of mandarins, produced in accordance with local tradition and synonymous with tone and freshness. Full of sunshine, their flesh is particularly tasty, their aroma powerful, their color vibrant, their acidity balanced and their slight bitterness. Because of these many qualities, Sicilian mandarins have been selected to illustrate the Slow Food foundation's projects dedicated to biodiversity.

Each flavour of fruit puree has a traceability of the land, and for 36 references Ponthier already gives a growing region. Ponthier decided to go even further to meet consumer demands and continued its efforts with the creation of the PURE TRACE label, which reinforces traceability by indicating the name of the grower and the place of harvest for 19 flavours. 

And to go one step further, Ponthier is launching the Live Trace project, which allows users to see orchards live via a webcam, accessible by flashing a QR code on the purees' packaging.
