Description

Description:
This Pinot Grigio is pale yellow to sandy in color and subtle in its bouquet, with fruity notes of pears and candied furits. The eloquent, harmonious body emphasizes its dry, full-bodied taste and round finish. 

Grape variety:
100% Pinot Grigio. 

Production area:
Hillside vineyards in Kurtatsch (400 - 600 m a.s.l. - 1,312 - 1,968 feet) and sites in the plain of Margreid (210 m a.s.l.) 

Yield: 45 - 55 hl per hectare. 

Vinification:
after 6 - 8 hours of maceration of the grapes, fermentation at a constant temperature of 20°C in stainless steel tanks; maturation on the fine lees for 6 months; 50% fermented and aged in large oak casks on the lees. 

Matching:
Lightly appetizers, fish dishes, South Tyrolean specialities. 

Serving temperature:
10 - 12°C. 

Ageing potential:
6 - 8 years.

The Tiefenbrunner family is fully committed to the wine-growing tradition since 1848. Today Christof and his wife Sabine stand behind the name Castel Turmhof winery. Their aim is to blend the traditions of many years with new and innovative developments. Thus, the preservation of the character of the grape varieties, and of the high quality of the grapes themselves, remain the basic principle of the work in the vineyards and the cellars. Altogether 25 hectares of vines are owned and cultivated by the Tiefenbrunner family. They also purchase grapes from surrounding vineyards with a total cultivated area of 40 hectares. The average annual production is 750,000 bottles, of which 70% are white wines and the remainder red.
