Description

Description:

Botanicals: Juniper, Lemon, Coriander, Cassia, Angelica, Grapefruit Peel, Orange Peel.

On the nose and on the palate it is the very fresh notes of lemon that pleasantly strike the senses, followed by the dry notes of juniper and then by the more spicy ones, but it is the lemon again, combined with balsamic notes, to distinguish the long finish. Malfy Gin is a 100% Italian product, from distillation to ingredients, from the bottle to the label. In the latter there is a coat of arms that recalls the rowing competitions that involved the four ancient kingdoms of Italy, while the blue and yellow colors recall the sea and the lemons. The initials G.Q.D.I. stands for "Quality Gin Distilled in Italy". The lemons that make Malfy Gin unique and special come from Amalfi and Sicily, while the gin is produced by the Vergnano family's Turin Distillati di Moncalieri, in operation since 1906. It is the first Italian gin to ever be exported to the United States.

Taste:

Malfy Gin is exactly as described by the producers: a distinctly citrusy gin. In fact, on the nose it is definitely the refreshing notes of lemon that prevail, but also on the palate it is the lemon that is released in the mouth before anything else, with all its freshness. The flavors of other botanicals follow, with the driest notes of juniper and the more spicy ones. On the finish the lemon again, but with more balsamic and spicy notes as a side dish. Overall it is very soft, slightly sweet, drinkable.

Production:

Malfy Gin is produced with a vacuum-packed stainless steel still. Distillation takes place at only 60 ° C, which is the lowest possible temperature that allows distillation to be carried out; in this way you get the most from the extraction of citrus aromas. Before bottling, the gin is carefully filtered to eliminate oily residues and give the gin a crystalline appearance.

Curiosity:

Malfy Gin is a 100% Italian product; the bottle is also decorated with a typical Italian glass processing technique, while the cap is made of Italian oak wood. On the label we find a coat of arms that wants to remember the rowing competitions that every year involved the four ancient kingdoms of Italy. The two colors blue and yellow represent the sea and the lemons that grow in the coastal areas. The initials G.Q.D.I. means: "Quality Gin Distilled in Italy". Malfy Gin is produced using lemons from Amalfi and Sicily in the Torino Distillati di Moncalieri distillery, founded in 1906 and managed by the Vergnano family. The two Malfy Gin distillers are Beppe Ronco and Denis Muni. Their gin boasts the record of being the first Italian gin exported to the USA. On the official website of Malfy Gin it can be read that gin was invented in Italy. In fact, one of the oldest proto-gins was created in the year 1000 on the Salerno coast by some monks who made an infusion of juniper and other botanicals in alcohol to create a liqueur with a medicinal function.
