Erika, the alpine flower: The main protagonist of the gin is the distilled heather extract, which gives Z44 Special Edition its floral character. Like the stone pine, Erika thrives magnificently in the Alpine mountains and gives the eye a wonderfully bright pink colour in spring. Its scent is intensely floral, dry and invigorating at the same time, ideal as an addition to Gin Z44. 

Erika flower and 15 other botanicals: The floral note combines perfectly with the other 15 botanicals in the Z44 special edition gin and shows the connoisseur the typicality of the Alpine region, South Tyrol. 

The stone pine in Z44: The hand-picked stone pine cones embody the rough, uncompromising and dominating nature of the mountains, while the inconspicuous heather flower with its sweet straw notes represents the hidden splendour of the barren meadows. 

Perfect symphony: this gin is complemented and rounded by distinct citrus notes of bergamot. Together they create a perfectly balanced drinking experience, neat or as a cocktail.

It was 1946 when Gottfried Roner set up his first still in the family home and started distilling spirits. After early successes producing grappa, Gottfried, who was enthusiastic about his country and its fruits, decided to expand his operations. By macerating roots and berries from the surrounding forests, as was already the custom, he began to make time-honored products such as gentian, juniper and blueberry liqueur. These products are still among the most popular produced by our distillery today.
