Description:
Ruby red colour with subtle garnet highlights. Variegated nose of cherries, stark apple, yellow peach and currants, combined with delicate hints of wilted violets and a hint of charcoal. Clear references to undergrowth and chocolate then emerge. In the mouth, harmony of the parts prevails: integrated alcohol, festive acidity and silky tannin. With above-average sapidity, it takes leave with discreet length.

Production area:
Poggio Antico is an estate that groups all the vineyards into a single property, in one of the highest points of the Montalcino appellation and extends over 200 hectares, 33 of which are vineyards. The estate is caressed by constant breezes and the vineyards are predominantly south-facing, at an average altitude of 480 metres above sea level. The unique climate and privileged position allow the cultivation of magnificent Sangiovese grapes, which they vinify and age with care and passion to create an exceptional selection of Brunello wines.
Vinification:
The fermentation period takes place at relatively low temperatures (maximum 27 °C) for 20 days. Aged just over 2 years in French oak barriques of varying degrees of toasting, followed by 8 months of bottle ageing.

To be paired with meat, game, mature cheeses.

16 - 18°C.

Thanks to this unique and blessed spot, Poggio Antico wines are characterised by their elegance.
The soil is rocky and calcerous, which makes for good drainage. Cover crops are used to aid moisture retention, increase biodiversity and regenerate the soil.
