Description

Description: 
Bright, light straw color with greenish reflections. The perfume is articulated, dense and delicate with notes that recall the first spring flowers (broom and lime blossom) and fresh fruit (green apple, pear and grapefruit). The taste is balanced, dry, fragrant thanks to a good acidity that highlights the fruity and citrus sensations. The aftertaste is persistent and slightly bitter. 

Grape variety: 
Vernaccia di San Gimignano - Toscana DOCG. 

Production area: 
Vigna Santa Margherita is the nucleus, the vineyard where the winery was born and as a whole currently has a vineyard area of 7.20 ha. It is located just over 1,500 metres west of the town of San Gimignano. The altitude, on the summit of the Santa Margherita hill, identified by a large maritime pine facing the town, is 310 metres above sea level. 

Vinification: 
Soft pressing of the grapes with fermentation of one part (about 50%) in barriques and the other in steel at a controlled temperature. The two parts, at the end of fermentation and an ageing period of 5 - 6 months in the same fermentation vessels, are blended and the wine prepared for bottling. 

Food pairing: 
Goes well with fish first courses, vegetable soups, shellfish, white meats, fresh and medium-aged cheeses, matches with saffron. 

Serving temperature: 
10 - 12°C. 

Ageing potential: 
more than 5 years. 

Bottle size: 
1500 ml - 150 cl - 1,5 lt. magnum bottle. 

Allergens: 
wine can contain sulphites.

In 1979, Giovanni Panizzi bought the Santa Margherita estate just outside the ancient walls of San Gimignano.
