Since 1968, Gilli as a South Tyrolean family business has stood for the finest gourmet specialties. The grandfathers of today's owners, Albert Gilli and Julius Kritzinger, were true pioneers in the delicatessen and food trade in South Tyrol. Among other things, the traditional food retail store in Kardaun had its own flour mill and a small artisan coffee roastery. The farmers delivered their wood from the Eggental with horse-drawn carts to the various sawmills in Kardaun and then supplied themselves with grain and food. The deliveries were paid for on Sunday at the inn after church.
