Era il 1946 quando Gottfried Roner iniziò a distillare, posizionando un primo alambicco nella casa di famiglia. La distillazione è un arte antichissima che affonda le sue radici nella tradizione magica dell'alchimia, e che nell'arco alpino fa parte della tradizione contadina. Dopo i primi successi ottenuti con la produzione delle grappe, Gottfried appassionato della sua terra e dei suoi frutti decise di arricchire la sua produzione: macerando, come da tradizione, nella grappa radici e bacche dei boschi circostanti, ottenne i liquori alla genziana, al ginepro e al mirtillo, che ancora oggi sono tra i fiori all'occhiello delle Distillerie Roner.
